Containing full-text for nearly 100 of the most popular children's magazines, Primary Search is designed specifically to help elementary school libraries. Students can learn about a variety of topics, such as endangered species, famous musicians, food fitness, space exploration, and more. The database also includes a collection of more than 1.2 million images of relevant photos, maps and flags to aid kids in learning.
Helping students and their teachers
Featuring content from Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, Primary Search provides students with easy-to-read encyclopedic entries written specifically for kids. In addition, the database includes complete articles from popular magazine titles such as Boys' Life, Highlights, Junior Scholastic, and dozens more.
All full-text articles, many available in color PDF, are assigned reading level indicators (Lexiles) to provide educators with an estimate of the result’s reading difficulty and the approximate grade-level reading ability required for comprehension. Lexiles help teachers meet the needs of students with varying reading abilities and interests and allow students to read along at their own pace.
Primary Search can be accessed via EBSCOhost or Explora, EBSCO's dedicated interface for schools and public libraries.
My overall impression of the EBSCOhost interface is that it offers something for everybody.– Charleston Advisor
