Awards in NoveList

There are A LOT of book awards out there, too many for one librarian to keep track of.

Let NoveList help you! We track over one thousand awards from around the world for readers of all ages, fiction and nonfiction, audiobooks, graphic novels, and more.

Of course, we track the big awards like the Man Booker, the Scotiabank Giller Prize, the Pulitzer, the Nobel, the Caldecott, the Newbery, the Printz, the Miles Franklin Award, and the New Zealand Book Awards, but that's only a small sample of the many different awards we track (so you don't have to).

Genre awards like:

  • Anthony Awards: annually awarded by the World Mystery Convention for excellence in mystery fiction.
  • Aurealis Awards: awarded annually by the publishers of Aurealis Magazine to recognize Australian achievement in science fiction, fantasy, and horror for adults, young adults, and children.
  • Hugo Awards: awarded annual by popular vote of the World Science Fiction Society for contributions to science fiction writing, art, and publishing.
  • James Fenimore Cooper Prize: awarded biennually by the Society of American Historians to recognize a work of historical fiction.
  • RITA Awards: annually award by the Romance Writers of America for the best novels in romantic fiction.
  • Spur Awards: awarded annually for distinguished writing about the American West.

Age-specific awards like:

  • Alex Awards: ten adult books recognized each year as an outstanding introduction for teenagers to adult literature.
  • Governor General's Literary Awards: annual awards honoring outstanding English and French language works by Canadian authors.
  • Jane Addams Children's Book Awards: granted annual by the Jane Addams Peace Association to honor books of excellence that further causes of peace, social justice, world community, and equality between men and women.
  • Mildred L. Batchelder Award: awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children to an American publisher for the most outstanding book published in the U.S. that was originally published in a foreign language or a foreign country.
  • William C. Morris YA Debut Award: awarded annually to regonize a debut's novels overall excellence and appeal to a wide range of teen readers.
