Using NoveList Content

NoveList has a lot of great articles and lists, for both readers and library staff. Here’s just some of the content that you can find in NoveList:


  • Author Read-alikes - Read all of an author’s books? Turn to these articles for ideas of what to read next. Access from the Quick Links menu in the toolbar.
     
  • Book Discussion Guides - Leading a book group? Use these guides, which include suggested questions, sample answers, and a further reading section. Access from the Quick Links menu in the toolbar.
     
  • Books to Movies - Keep up with the books your patrons will be asking for with our lists of books that have recently been adapted for the big screen. These lists are also helpful for book displays. Access from the Quick Links menu in the toolbar.
     
  • Common Core - Grouped by grade level, these resources will help you find books that align with your curricular needs. Access from the Quick Links menu in the toolbar.
     
  • Curricular Connections - These articles give you ideas for engaging students on particular genres or topics. Access from the Quick Links menu in the toolbar.
     
  • Feature Articles - These articles introduce a subgenre or topic, and titles within this genre/topic. Use these articles to plan book displays, reading lists, or book-themed events. Access from the Quick Links menu in the toolbar.
     
  • Grab and Go Book Lists - These curriculum-based lists focus specifically on the topics that students, teachers, and librarians have asked for. These have been considered the “best of the best” by librarians, teachers, and literature specialists. Access from the Quick Links menu in the toolbar.
     
  • Picture Book Extenders - These articles are designed to help librarians, teachers, and parents use picture books as comprehension tools and enrichment to curricular content areas. Each printable article provides discussion questions that encourage thinking skills, suggests extension activities to be used in the classroom, library, or at home with a parent, and includes a list of titles for further exploration of a theme or author.   • Readers Advisory - Brush up on an unfamiliar genre or subgenre, get new ideas for your book displays, and find programming tips and ideas with our Readers’ Advisory articles. Access from the Especially For menu using the Readers’ Advisory link.
     
  • Recommended Reads Lists - Easily find books on a popular genre or topic. Lists are a great starting point for readers who aren’t sure what they are looking for. Access from the left side of the homepage.
     
  • Genre Outlines - Tackle unfamiliar genres with the in-depth genre information that these articles provide. You’ll be able to talk to readers of all genres in no time. Access from the Especially For menu using the Readers’ Advisory link.
     
  • Book Display Ideas - Coming up empty for your next book display? We’ve got time-saving ideas for you. Access from the Especially For menu using the Readers’ Advisory link.
     

Searching Articles and Lists

Search for all available articles and lists by entering a keyword, like “mystery” in the search box. At your results, click the Lists & Articles tab to see all related NoveList content.

Or search by a specific type of article from the Advanced Search page. Use the Document Type limiter to limit by type of article and list and click Search (you can even enter search terms if you want!).
