Storytime en español y ingles

"With a little practice and the right tools, anyone can develop accessible bilingual storytimes for children and their families."

This assurance is brought to you by Beatriz Guevara, former REFORMA president and bilingual storytime star. In her recent NoveList article, Books and Songs for Bilingual Storytimes, Beatriz provides you with a starter kit of tools that can help you deliver storytimes that will meet the needs of your community, Spanish-speaking and beyond.

To find the article in NoveList, you can: Search for UI 444331 or search for "bilingual storytimes" and choose the Lists & Articles tab. And don't forget to print and share this flyer of suggested reads, so that families can follow up after storytime is over!

You can also expand your toolkit with these NoveList searches:

  • "Bilingual materials" for a broad search. Use the "Refine Results" panel on the left to choose an age group.
  • DE "Bilingual materials -- English/Spanish" for a specific search. Swap out "Spanish" for the language of your choice (e.g. English/Arabic, English/Chinese, etc.), then use "Refine Results" to refine by age group.
  • Storytime for storytime resources. Click on the "Lists & Articles" tab to find specialized tips, from adaptive to STEM to financial literacy.

Check out the video below to see these searches in action, or go ahead and try them for yourself!
