As spring passes into summer, we here at the NoveList office hear the same thing from our friends and colleagues working in schools. “This summer,” they say, “we are going to grab summer by the beach towel.” Of course, if you work with teachers or school media specialists, then you know what *really* happens. As standards are tweaked, tests updated, textbooks changed, and new administration hired, summer break turns into summer work.
Let NoveList help you keep up with books and make your summer a little easier.
First, create an account in NoveList. If you’re not sure how to do that, check out our tutorial. After you’ve created your NoveList account, make yourself a folder to store all the good stuff you find in NoveList.
If you know some of what NoveList has to offer, but not everything, we’ve got resources for that, too! Our Educate pages will give you plenty of ideas for searching NoveList for books by popular culture, for curriculum support, and books at the right reading level. Get started with our YouTube playlist designed for educators.
Using NoveList to automate your searches is the gold nugget of information to really help you find some pool time this summer. NoveList Alerts let you “set it and forget it.” Use the tutorials and Educate pages to learn how to search for what’s important to the students, teachers, and curriculum at your school, set up some searches, and get notifications when something important to you gets added.
Want more book news? Don’t forget to sign up for our Book Squad newsletters. Lindsey, Autumn, and Rebecca (who together edit KidLit Connection, TeenLit Connection, and School KidLit) will keep you updated with trends in kid and teen fiction, give you tips for searching NoveList, and also include cute printables for you to post in your library.
Those NoveList Alerts will keep working for you, even as summer passes into fall and school hallways fill up. The Book Squad will keep looking out for you, too.
Just one more way NoveList helps you help your readers. Now, where's your beach towel?
