Look Back with a Book

For many, the start of a new year is the perfect time to look back and reflect on the previous year. What better way to reflect than with a book? No matter if you’re a fantasy fanatic, historical fiction buff, or like to mix it up, we have a Best Of 2013 list for you. Stay tuned for all Best Of 2013 lists to appear inside NoveList.

Ch-Ch-Changes

With the New Year upon us, many are taking the time to create positive change in their lives. But what about kids and adolescents? They’re learning that to live means to change, and not all of it may be a positive experience (high school anyone?). Help the kids and teens in your life cope with the changes that surround them with, what else, a book! 

  • Life Changing Experiences in Teen Fiction (Feature Article)
    Adolescence is a time of change. For teenagers life changing events can be as small as meeting a new person or as big as dealing with a death or serious illness. A young person's image of themselves and their life possibilities change in adolescence, and as a result life changing events are a principle feature of young adult fiction.
  • Characters Coping with Change (Feature Article)
    The years between ages 9-12 are full of change. Many middle schoolers soldier through without acknowledging the difficulties that beset them. Whether or not they recognize the turmoil, there's a comfort in discovering books whose characters struggle with changes during early adolescence.
