In Part 1 and Part 2 of this three-part series, we tossed out 5 tips to help inspire you to give the RA services at your library a makeover. The RA Makeover webcast on February 10 is almost upon us; catch up on the previous ideas, tips, and tidbits of inspiration we've posted to help you make 2015 your best year for readers' advisory yet. Ready for Part 3?

  1. Take advantage of the ever-popular books-to-movies by hosting "Read It Watch It" events. Have your staff promote a particular book and host a public screening of its film adaptation. Don't forget the popcorn!
  2. Make book bundles! Find a quirky way to link a few different titles together under a unifying theme and bundle them together with ribbon or string for patrons to check out.
  3. Promote your staff expertise and your collection by writing a monthly readers' advisory column in the local newspaper.
  4. Engage with your community by having a booth at your local farmer's market. Bring along books about cooking, gardening, and eating local -- and don't forget the kids' books!
  5. Use social media to your advantage. Start a Facebook book discussion group for your patrons, or post links to different book lists and blog posts.
