Rosa Parks (1913-2005)
"I wasn't tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day... No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in."
Rosa Parks was a hardworking seamstress. She possessed principle, integrity, and a quiet demeanor. In 1955, she showed the world another of her attributes; that of an American citizen who could no longer brook intimidation and racism. Her arrest for politely refusing to give up her bus seat for a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama, served as a catalyst for an historic boycott of the city bus system, and became a symbol of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
