Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945)

"Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have
to fear is fear itself
."
-First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1933

Franklin Roosevelt was the longest-serving U.S. president, winning four consecutive terms in 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1944. Well-schooled in adversity, Roosevelt's eloquence, leadership, and tenacious spirit guided the country out of the Great Depression and through the turmoil of WWII, in spite of the physical limitations imposed on him by polio, which left him wheelchair bound in 1921.
