Thomas Alva Edison, also known as "The Wizard of Menlo Park," has an impressive 1,093 patents to his name, most notably the light bulb, the phonograph, the alkaline battery, and the kinetoscope. He is considered one of the most prolific inventors of our time and was named by Life Magazine in 1997 as the Man of the Millennium for inventing the light bulb.
