Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1921-1968)
"We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plain of dignity and discipline ...We must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force."
Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., stands as one of the eminent figures in the history of the United States, and in the Civil Rights movement. A powerful and inspirational speaker, he encouraged African Americans, in an age of violence and brutality, to unite and protest against societal injustice in a nonviolent manner. His "I Have a Dream" speech lives as a stirring call to America to become its best self. Tragically, Reverend King never lived to reflect on his legacy. An assassin took his life on April 4, 1968.
