Through direct and indirect systematic surveillance of more than 500
journals, DynaMed offers clinically-organized summaries for
nearly 3,000 topics.
A "topic" in DynaMed is a summary of an area of information with a defined scope. Topics are based on:
- Common and uncommon diseases & conditions
- Symptoms (e.g., chest pain)
- Other clinically important topics (e.g., breast feeding, cardiac stress testing)
- Specific popular interest (e.g., West Nile Virus, Anthrax, SARS)
- New scope of information based on developing research (e.g., include metabolic syndrome, D-timer testing)
- Suggestions by DynaMed users
Revision of pre-existing topics is prioritized by frequency of user
searches. New topic summaries for DynaMed may be determined internally
or suggested by users or potential authors.
DynaMed content is organized in an easy-to-use, clinically-practical format. Topics covering diseases, conditions, symptoms, and other presentations follow a standardized template within the following framework::
